Community Outreach Updates

From Julmice:

Erlain and Lisenie continue to visit the kids at their house twice a week. They are praying with them and also have a little devo. They explain to them that the coronavirus is still there so they need to continue with the hand washing, using a mask and respecting social distancing.

From Daniel:

Community awareness campaign: During 3 days, our young (scholarship students) crisscrossed different areas such as Quartier Morin, Lamolere, Cadouche, Lagossette, Carrefour des Peres, Lory, Limonade and the public market of Trou du Nord. They distributed around 4,000 flyers with information about the services we gave at the Clinics. In addition, a previously recorded voice message was broadcast over the entire route. At the end of the campaign, we prayed and had a meal together as family.

Visit to the Orphange: In order to strengthen orphans who often feel alone in life, our young (scholarship students) visited them (Tabithat’s Ophanage). At the same time, it was an opportunity for our young to make a presentation on Oral hygiene. Merline, nursing student, received help from Frantz to lead this presentation. A session on tooth brushing techniques was also carried out so we can say that now 26 children know how to keep their mouths clean and especially how, when, and why to brush their teeth.

We hope the young will continue to put their knowledge to the service of others. May God continue to bless them all!

Let the Children Come

For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children. Matthew 19:14

Erlain and Lisenie hosted a party to celebrate with the kids from the neighborhood who participate in the Soccer with a Purpose program. We are thankful for their example to these children as they mentor them to be leaders in the community as they grow. We are praying that God will expand these efforts into the future for His Glory.

Compassion and Mercy

But You, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

The staff at See Him Ministries decided to be examples of God’s compassion and mercy during this Christmas season. We are so blessed by their hearts to serve and love on their neighbors. Please see the email excerpt from Julmice, our Director of Operations, in Haiti:

Today is a special day around the world. For that reason, See Him Ministries’ staff, especially Julien (Pollo), Franzdy, Daniel, Erlain, Amos and Yvon, are getting 30 elderly people from the neighborhood together to celebrate Christmas with them. The staff shared 30 packages with each package containing rice, beans, vegetable oil, sardines, and tomato paste. They were very happy and very grateful. The staff had a short devo with them and offered some encouraging words.

Our See Him Staff at Work - Mobile Clinic

The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done. Psalm 118:16-17

We are so grateful to our staff at See Him as they continue to serve and care for their hurting neighbors. As a group, they decided some time ago that they wanted to reach out to more people by providing mobile medical care to communities outside of town on a regular basis. Even though the situation in Haiti has been difficult, these bright lights continue to shine and bring the message that the Lord is not done with them yet.

A Light in the Darkness

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” - John 1:5

These two photos are examples of the brilliance of light shining through. One is a view from the roof of a building at the Every Eye Will See Him ministries compound in Cap Haitien, Haiti. The other is of the front gate into the property. I am captured by the beauty of these photographs but I want you to know that there is a greater light that is shining around that compound and into the community. God has answered so many prayers through this process but His faithfulness is most evident in the staff He has delivered to this ministry. He has sent Spirit-filled, servant-minded leaders in every area from nursing to groundskeepers, doctors to housekeepers and everyone else included. As you are aware, civil unrest in Haiti has dominated the news and more importantly the lives of our Haitian neighbors and friends these past several days. But, as schools, businesses, banks and roads were closed, our staff continued to run the medical and eye clinics daily. Our director there, Julmice, informed the staff that they did not have to come to work with everything going on but THEY decided that they wanted to continue to provide their services through the clinics despite all that was happening. They have been opened during these difficult days in the country……these dark days. I couldn’t help but realize that this is our time. We would never want these things to be happening BUT it is our time to SHINE in the darkness and our staff recognized it on their own. God placed that desire in their hearts. He knew when He sent them our way that they would be this example of selflessness in situations like this. These shining lights reveal to the patients and our neighbors that they are important and that there is something special and peculiarly different about this place. Every day, all patients show up first thing in the morning even if their appointment is in the afternoon. God has arranged this, we are convinced, because our staff takes this opportunity to sing with, pray with and encourage the patients every morning. As these bright lights continue to shine in the darkness, we are confident that they cannot help but to See Him which has always been the ultimate goal.

We have a cataract surgery team that will be going in next week. Please be praying that God will use this team to draw more people to Himself. Our desire is that every eye will see Him through all we say and do.

Feeding Our Neighbors

24789.jpg

“For I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.” - Matthew 25:25

Our staff held an end of the year meeting a couple of weeks ago and decided that they wanted to do some things before the year passed. One of the things that they decided was that they wanted to help some of our neighbors who were hungry and had difficulty getting enough food for themselves and their families. They identified some of those who were hungry and invited them to receive a gift of rice and beans.

Another thing that they wanted to do was to spend some time in prayer as a group rededicating this work to the Lord. They met together one hour on a Sunday morning - maids, doctors, groundskeepers, nurses, security - all as one to pray to God thanking him for what He has done through them at See Him Ministries. They later talked about doing this at the end of each year.

We are so encouraged by their motivation and determination to talk about these things as a group and follow up with all of the planning and implementation. I can say that they are helping me to See Him through their hearts for service and desire to live for His glory!

See Him Ministries 5 year Anniversary

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

In February of 2014, after much prayer and conversation with our Haitian prayer warriors, a decision was made to purchase land to pursue a dream that God had placed on the hearts of a few to build a medical clinic and eye center outside of Cap Haitien, Haiti. God continued to lead by opening doors and providing in every way needed to begin construction of a wall followed by completion of a storage building/apartment, guesthouse, medical clinic and eye center. Just over 3 years after purchasing the property, all buildings were completed and the grand opening of the Cathy Pearson Memorial Medical Clinic and Fortune Previl Memorial Eye Center occurred in May of 2017. The clinics continue to operate daily Monday through Friday by the dedicated work and commitment of our Haitian staff including physicians, nurses, lab tech and all support and leadership staff. Julmice Louis, the director of operations, oversees all of the work and coordinates with everyone on the staff to support the work that each has been called to perform. We know that God has brought each of these Spirit-filled, servant-minded leaders to our staff for the purposes that He had designed long ago.

We have just completed hosting our second eye surgery team where nearly 50 individuals were able to receive cataract surgery and with that the gift of sight. This opportunity that God provided is one that had been dreamed about early on when the property was first purchased and prayers were offered for God to lead us where He would have us to go.

Please continue to pray with us as we follow His lead. We are praying for more and more opportunities to influence our neighbors in this community for Christ. We are praying for Him to bring us individuals to serve as Community Development leaders so that we might be able to develop more and more relationships with people for Christ. We are praying for ways to serve the community through education scholarships. We are praying that He will show us ways to reach out that we have not yet considered. We are confident that He will continue to be faithful as He has provided more than we could ask or imagine.

Consider joining with us financially and watch and see what He will do next!

Give thanks to Him!

Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. - Psalm 100:4

We are thankful for our staff at See Him as they continue to reach out to the community to develop relationships and care for others in the name of Jesus. The Soccer with a Purpose program held a soccer tournament last week that included 8 teams from the community. There were around 300 spectators that visited our campus to watch the tournament.

Also, our clinic staff led a mobile medical clinic to Fort Liberte where they were able to care for around 30 patients. This effort was initiated and has been carried out by the clinic staff on a monthly basis. We are so proud of their hearts to serve on their normal weekends off in order to show the love of Christ to those who are sick and hurting in communities outside of town.

Reaching out into the community

When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will say, I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me! Matthew 25:39-40

I am so thankful and proud of our See Him staff as they spent last Saturday providing medical and vision screenings to people out in the countryside.  The staff decided not long ago that they wanted as a group to give back to different communities in Haiti by going out one weekend about every couple of months.  This is something they have decided on their own as a way to share the love of Jesus by serving those who have a need.  God has answered our prayers by bringing Spirit-filled, servant-minded people into our See Him family!

21 Families Empowered and Encouraged!

FB_IMG_1532950375146.jpg

Praise be to God!  This picture of our See Him staff with interns was recently posted on our See Him Instagram page.  It made me so thankful as I realized some of what God has been doing here.  We prayed that God would bring Spirit-filled, servant-minded people to our See Him family and He has done just that. As a result, 21 families represented by the individuals here have been empowered through their employment.  The ripple effect of this into their families may never be fully realized by any of us...parents, children, siblings, others.  This is in addition to the people that our staff are impacting daily in the clinics and/or guesthouse for Christ.  Furthermore, their has been great relational encouragement that has occurred.  These people work together, worship together each morning, dream and plan together, laugh and cry together!  This picture was taken after the staff hosted a going away party for the interns.  These sweet people poured into the lives of the interns and the interns will never forget those priceless times of living briefly side by side with them.

I want all of you who have partnered with us financially and spiritually through prayer to know that you are making a real difference in the lives of real people every day!  We have recently added 2 nurses, a receptionist, a lab tech and an optometrist to our family.  These additions allow us to run the newly constructed onsite lab and Eye Center full time.  We are praying that God will bring people to lead our community development efforts, a full time ophthalmologist and an accountant/office administrator.  We will trust God in the timing as He has been so faithful in the past.

Please join us as we pray together and join us financially as well.  Check out the website for more information on how you can give.  We need your support as we all try to encourage one another to flourish into the people that God created us all to be!
